2018 AURORA DIALOGUES YEREVAN OVERVIEW

2018 Aurora Dialogues Yerevan “Inspire, Empower, Impact” will take place in the capital of Armenia on June 9, 2018. The conference is made possible by the support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and through the collaboration with the Global Perspectives Initiative (GPI). Distinguished humanitarians, academics, philanthropists, business leaders and members of civil society will convene in Armenia for the third annual Aurora Dialogues Yerevan, a series of penetrating discussions about the most pressing humanitarian concerns the world faces today. Aurora Dialogues Yerevan will focus on the importance of learning from the past, acting in the present and fostering a better future. Through a series of presentations, panel discussions and Q&As participants will explore how inspiration and empowerment can help create lasting, sustainable impact.

In keeping with the spirit of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, the Aurora Dialogues shine a light on individuals who work to end the suffering caused by violence, and identify ideas and programs that deliver tangible change. The Core Programming of the Dialogues is held annually in Armenia as part of a weekend of events culminating with the presentation of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity.

The inaugural 2016 Aurora Dialogues were held on April 23, 2016 in Matenadaran, Yerevan. Participants, including Aurora Prize Selection Committee members Hina Jilani, Shirin Ebadi and Gareth Evans, offered their views on the global refugee crisis, the role of women in the humanitarian community, and the role of the media in bringing humanitarian crises to the world’s attention.

‘’Galvanizing the World’’, the 2017 Aurora Dialogues, took place in Armenia on May 27-28, when many distinguished guests have gathered in the country to tackle the problems of ensuring education for all, positioning the role of the media in raising the world’s humanitarian issues, protecting human rights, creating role models, overcoming adversity and empowering refugees.

The Additional Aurora Dialogues Programming includes conferences and public lectures that are held internationally aiming to bring together leaders with the unique expertise and contribute to finding solutions to the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.

The 2017 Aurora Dialogues Berlin, “Millions on the Move: Need for Development and Integration,” was held on December 4th and 5th in. The event sought to catalyze conversation and propose ideas on how Germany and the EU could identify solutions to the most pressing global migration and refugee challenges.

The 2018 Aurora Dialogues New York was held on March 1, 2018 in partnership with 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The event, titled “Solidarity Beyond Borders: Stepping Up When Others Step Back”, was focused on what moves people to risk their lives and stand up for others in challenging situations.

The 2018 Aurora Dialogues Moscow “The Future of Impact”, organized jointly by the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative, PHILIN and Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, took place in Moscow on April 26, 2018. The event brought together innovators and impact creators to explore the nature of social impact.
