Dr. Simon Adams is Executive Director of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect. The Global Centre works to prevent mass atrocity crimes – genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity – throughout the world and conducts advocacy with the UN Security Council and Human Rights Council. Dr. Adams previously worked with governments and civil society organizations in South Africa, East Timor, Rwanda and elsewhere. He is also a former member of the international anti-apartheid movement and of the African National Congress in South Africa.
Dr. Adams is the author of five books with a focus on international conflict. He has also written for the New York Times and many other publications, and regularly appears as an expert commentator in the international media on issues related to human rights, mass atrocities and international justice.
