Mary Beth Powers, the CEO of CMMB has spent more than 25 years supporting efforts in global health and philanthropy. CMMB (previously Catholic Medical Mission Board) partners to provide community-based medical and health care to women and children in communities affected by poverty and poor health in parts of Zambia, Kenya, South Sudan, Peru, and Haiti. The organization also receives and delivers pharmaceuticals to health system partners in more than 30 countries around the world.
Ms. Powers spent much of her career with Save the Children where she worked on program design and evaluation with health teams around the world, eventually leading to the establishment of a global campaign to advocate for and spread technical innovations for newborn and child survival. She also served as CEO at SeriousFun Children’s Network which provided resiliency-focused camp experiences for children with life limiting illnesses. She also spent four years as the Vice President for Programs at Dalio Philanthropies.
She earned an undergraduate degree in Foreign Service at Georgetown University and began her career with Catholic Relief Services in Pakistan. Working to support the basic health needs of Afghan refugees convinced her to study public health, leading her to earn her Master’s Degree at the University of Michigan.
