Keiko Kiyama is a Trustee and Secretary General of Japan Emergency NGO (JEN). JEN was established in January 1994 to provide emergency assistance in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. Since then, adhering to the concept of “psycho-social and self-reliance support” JEN has been consistently serving for those people who have been stricken with hardship due to conflicts and disasters across the globe, in every phase of recovery from emergency assistance to reconstruction.
JEN was established in 1994 to serve for the refugees and Internally Displaced People in Former Yugoslav countries. JEN has been serving for the people in need in more than 24 countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Tohoku, Haiti, South Sudan, Indonesia and Jordan (for Syrian Refugees). Adhering to belief that "every human being has a precious life of equal value", JEN hopes to realize a world in which people respect and understand each other.
Keiko Kiyama served as an Aurora Prize Expert Panel Member in 2019-2020. She writes a blog telling what people from different countries have taught her.
