Comfort Ero

Dr. Comfort Ero has been Crisis Group's Nairobi-based Africa Program Director since January 2011. She previously worked with Crisis Group as West Africa Project Director. As Program Director, Ero oversees projects covering South, West, Central and the Horn of Africa. Her areas of expertise are conflict prevention, management and resolution, mediation, peacekeeping, transitional justice, politics and international relations of Africa.

From 2008 to 2010, she was Deputy Africa Program Director for the International Center for Transitional Justice. Prior to that she was Political Affairs Officer and Policy Advisor to the Special Representative of the Secretary General, UN Mission in Liberia. She also sits on the editorial board of various journals, including International Peacekeeping.        

She was a 2019 Aurora Forum Goodwill Ambassador and served as an Aurora Prize Expert Panel Member for the period 2016-2019.
