Chronicles of Aurora

During a special Ceremony that was held in Matenadaran on April 24, 2019, the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, a new inscription was made in the Chronicles of Aurora. The names of 2019 Aurora Humanitarians were added to the unique manuscript that will be showcased in the Old Printed Books Hall of Matenadaran from April 24 to October 20, 2019, the day the 2019 Aurora Prize Laureate will be announced. The name of the new Laureate will then also be inscribed in the manuscript. 

Chronicles of Aurora is a unique manuscript created in the 21st century and first presented on April 24, 2018. It is the first hand-written chronicle created in Matenadaran, an important center for preserving Armenian heritage and humanitarian values. The manuscript has been crafted according to the ancient Armenian traditions, and all used materials are natural.

The manuscript contains an account of all Aurora Humanitarian Initiative’s activities, features the stories of the Aurora Humanitarians and Laureates and reflects the Aurora Prize impact. The 2018 Aurora Prize Laureate Kyaw Hla Aung’s name was added to the manuscript on June 10, 2018, after the second part of the Prize Ceremony trilogy which had taken place at dawn.
