2011 Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee is a Liberian peace activist, trained social worker, public speaker and women’s rights advocate. She is founder and current President of the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa. She also founded the Liberia Reconciliation Initiative and is co-founder and former Executive Director of Women Peace and Security Network Africa (WIPSEN-A). She is also a founding member and former Liberia Coordinator of Women in Peacebuilding Network/West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WIPNET/WANEP).
"Most times, the reason why the evil is overcoming the worlds is because of lot of good people have taken steps back. The three founders of the Prize and the number of people that have been nominated for this Prize really bring to life my belief that there are more good people out there, just highlighting the good that they are doing and this Prize is doing that," mentions Leymah Gbowee.
