Aurora Commemorates the Armenian Genocide

Aurora Commemorates the Armenian Genocide

On April 23, 2020 the representatives of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex organized to commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Due to the global COVID-19 outbreak and the government-mandated lockdown in Armenia, the 2020 events were scaled down and public commemoration on the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day canceled, but the tradition of a symbolic ceremony was still upheld with all necessary precautions taken to minimize the risk.

This year, Aurora paid tribute to the memory of those who perished in 1915–1923 as the world honors the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. On behalf of the survivors and in gratitude to their saviors, the Initiative seeks to empower modern-day heroes to offer life and hope to those in urgent need of basic humanitarian aid anywhere in the world and thus continue the cycle of giving internationally.
