IDEA FOUNDATION’S 100 LIVES PROJECT PROVIDES SIGNIFICANT DONATION TO UN’S NEPAL EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

Yerevan May 5, 2015: 100 LIVES and IDeA Foundations today announced a commitment of US $100,000 to support UN OCHA’s flash appeal for humanitarian response to the Nepal earthquake. The donation will be earmarked for the protection of children, coordinated by UNICEF. The cash donation will be made by an initiative called ‘Armenians for Nepal,’ an initiative calling Armenians of the world to donate funds for saving children of Nepal, to support UNICEF disaster relief efforts in Nepal helping children affected by the recent earthquake.

This commitment is in line with the wider mission of the 100 LIVES, a global gratitude initiative. In 1988, Armenia suffered severely from an earthquake, which took 25,000 lives. Thousands of people helped Armenians then.

Ruben Vardanyan, Co-Founder of 100 LIVES and IDeA said, “The earthquake in Nepal has devastated lives and caused extensive damage to the country’s rich history. Our condolences go out to all of the people impacted by this terrible tragedy. It is in the spirit of 100 LIVES to offer help where there is human suffering. It is at times like these that the best of human spirit can be seen and I urge Armenians everywhere to show their support and donate.”

Veronika Zonabend, Co-Founder of the IDeA Foundation said: “Tragedies such as this leave children extraordinarily vulnerable; often orphaned, injured, homeless and without food and water. Armenians know first-hand that every second counts to save their lives and protect them from lasting health and psychological damage. By helping to ensure UNICEF has the resources it needs to be able to respond we can give these children a future.”
