A Letter to the Aurora Hero

The Aurora Humanitarian Initiative and Mediamax announce a joint essay contest “A Letter to the Aurora Prize Hero”.

Contestants should write an essay as a letter to one of the four finalists of 2016 Aurora Prize: Marguerite Barankitse, Syeda Ghulam Fatima, Tom Catena or Bernard Kinvi.

The contest is open to individuals aged 16 to 40 regardless of the citizenship they hold.

The word limit for the submitted essay is 600. Longer essays will not be accepted.

Essays can be submitted in Armenian, English and Russian.

The contest begins on January 10 and ends on January 25, 2017 (at 6 PM ,UTC+4).

Contest winners will receive a monetary prize of AMD 1 million (first place), AMD 500 000 (second place) and AMD 300 000 (third place).

Contest winners will be announced on February 1.

The winners will be selected by the jury comprised of representatives of Aurora Humanitarian Initiative and Mediamax. The jury will be chaired by writer Narine Abgaryan.

The jury reserves the right to decide on additional prize (-es). In case such a decision is made, we shall make a complementary announcement.

All the contestants warrant they are the authors of the submitted essays. In case of the copyright violation the party at fault will be disqualified.

All essays will be published in a special section of Mediamax.am as they are submitted, excluding:

- Essays that don’t comply with topics chosen by the organizers;

- Essays that contain offensive or other expressions that violate the laws of the Republic of Armenia.

Please note that you should attach your passport scan, photo (to be published along with the essay) and contacts. Essays without the passport scan, the author’s photo and contacts will not be considered.
