AURORA DIALOGUES BERLIN FAQ

AURORA DIALOGUES BERLIN FAQ

The Dialogues are part of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative, formed on behalf of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide and in gratitude to their saviors. We seek to empower modern-day saviors to offer life and hope to those in urgent need of basic humanitarian aid and thus continue the cycle of giving internationally.

What are the Aurora Dialogues?

The Aurora Dialogues is one of the projects of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative (AHI), launched on behalf of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide and in gratitude to their saviors. Other projects include the Aurora Prize, the Aurora Humanitarian Index, the Aurora Gratitude Scholarships and the 100 LIVES.

The Aurora Dialogues provide a platform for the world’s leading humanitarians, academics, philanthropists and members of civil society to come together for a series of insightful discussions about some of today’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. In keeping with the spirit of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, the Aurora Dialogues shine a light on the people who are working to address today’s atrocities in a real and substantial manner and seek to identify ideas that will deliver tangible change. The Dialogues encourage collaborative conversations to explore the importance of learning from the past, acting in the present, and fostering a better future.

The Core Programming of the Dialogues is held annually in Armenia as part of a weekend of events culminating with the presentation of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity. The Additional Aurora Dialogues Programming includes conferences and public lectures that are held internationally aiming to bring together leaders with the unique expertise and contribute to finding solutions to the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.

Why are the Aurora Dialogues taking place in Berlin?

By extending the Aurora Dialogues beyond the Core Programming in Armenia, we hope to encourage key decision-makers to think globally and promote an understanding of our mutual interconnectedness and interdependence, highlighting the fact that in a globalized world we need to focus on the bigger picture, rather than follow nationalistic perspectives.

Additional Aurora Dialogues Programming in Berlin will explore how the European Union, and especially Germany, can contribute to humanitarian solutions by supporting development and integration. We hope to create a borderless circle of discussion, bring together international leaders in new contexts and have their voices heard internationally.

Who attends the Aurora Dialogues?

The annual forum in Armenia and international programming Dialogues are attended by leading humanitarians, academics, philanthropists and civil society representatives. Speakers include members of the esteemed Aurora Prize Selection Committee, influential leaders and thinkers from around the world who are committed to advancing humanitarian causes.

Please note that the Aurora Dialogues events are strictly invitation only.

What is the Aurora Humanitarian Index?

The Aurora Humanitarian Index is a global survey examining the public’s perceptions of major humanitarian issues across multiple markets. The first Aurora Humanitarian Index was launched in 2016 with a survey conducted in six countries (the US, UK, France, Germany, Lebanon and Iran.) The 2017 Aurora Humanitarian Index surveyed 12 markets (adding Armenia, Argentina, Russia, Japan, Turkey, Kenya) and focusing on the migration crisis and integration.

The findings are presented each year during the Aurora Dialogues in Armenia, a forum for discussion among leading experts from across the international humanitarian community.
